Mike,
I have a 1968 Camaro Hardtop that I want to lower 2 Inches in the rear.
I have headers and dual exhaust, which sometimes scrape on the driveway, so I want to install air bags to lift it as required.
My question is, how does this affect the suspension and spring rate?
Can I do this without hurting anything?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Gary
Gary,
Air bagging the suspension is a down and dirty way to provide some lift when need, but when air is in the bag the suspension is stiffened. The amount of stiffness is directly related to the air pressure in the bags. The more air, the higher the lift and the stiffer the suspension.
I see no problem if you give the bags a shot of air to lift the front to keep the headers from scraping then letting the air out.
