Mike,
Your online listings for rear leaf springs to fit a 1966 F100 show springs with or w/o EZ ride shackles. Can you tell me what are/were EZ ride shackles? Is this an optional shackle that was offered by Ford at the time? How do I identify if my truck has them if it has all original suspension? – Mike
Mike,
The EZ-Ride shackle was an option which was designed to make the 1966 through 1971 F100’s a better riding truck that was also capable of carrying weight. They improved the ride by making the spring 4 Inches longer. Then used 2 shackles, one as a normal shackle and the other to effectively shorten the spring, which increased the capacity.
The EZ-Ride springs measure 24″ x 32″ and the non-EZ-Ride springs measure 24″ x 28″. (click here for the proper way to Measure a Spring).
The easiest way to know if you have the EZ-Ride setup is to look at the rear of the springs. If they look like the above picture, you have it. – Mike
