Mike,
I just received the springs I ordered from your company and I noticed the bushing in the front eye is wider than the spring. And so are the 2 piece bushing for the back eye. Why is this? By the way the springs are for a 1957 Mercury Monterey 4 Door.

Tony,
One of the functions of the spring eye bushings is to allow the spring to rotate around it’s mounting points. The steel sleeve inside of the front bushing keeps the sides of the spring from coming in contact with the spring hanger. The rear bushings are rubber and somewhat pliable. It is the stepped down shackle bolt that keeps the shackle side bars from contacting the spring eye.
