We Provide Shocks
Hydraulic & Gas Shocks For Thousands Of Classic Vehicles Now Available
EATON Detroit Spring now stocks low-charge gas shocks supplied by KYB. These shocks are a suitable lower-cost replacement for hydraulic shocks, and are available for many classic applications on our website.
For an enjoyable and smooth ride, you need the right springs and shocks for your vehicle. The wrong shocks have ruined many otherwise great vehicles by making them uncomfortable to drive. How does this happen?
Prior to the mid-1980s, manufacturers designed suspensions to use hydraulic shocks. Today most shock manufacturers only make gas charged shocks for these vehicles, resulting in a much harsher ride.
Why do gas shocks often give a harsh ride? Because they’re loaded with nitrogen gas charged under high pressure, sometimes exceeding eighty pounds!
To see what we mean, try pushing a gas shock together with your hands. Unless you’re Superman, odds are you’ll strain to collapse it. Hydraulic shocks, however, collapse with ease, and don’t pop back when you release them. It’s easy to see why gas shocks can give you a harsh ride, just imagine your suspension fighting that much harder!
Lucky for you, we offer hydraulic shocks from QA1 and Viking for many classic vehicles.
And, after a lot of testing, we have chosen KYB to supply low-pressure gas shocks.
The Excel-G shocks made by KYB have a low gas pressure, as low as five pounds, giving little adverse effect to ride quality. For a stiffer ride, we also offer KYB Gas-A-Just shocks for certain vehicles.
If your vehicle has a harsh ride and you think it may be the shocks, check to see if you have a set of stiff gas charged shocks. Replace them with low-pressure gas or hydraulic shocks and everyone will feel the difference.
Visit our online ordering page and choose your vehicle with the drop-downs. We have shocks available for thousands of vehicles. Remember: the stiffer the shock, the stiffer the ride.
