Mike,
I have a ’79 Camaro with 350 engine with A/C and I have replaced the shocks but still have problem with front end bottoming out when I hit a dip in the road going over 45mph. What do you recommend?
Thanks – Fred
Fred,
Contrary to what many think, shocks do not hold up a vehicle. The purpose of shocks is to control the release of the springs energy. Without shocks the springs would compress and uncompress uncontrollably causing the vehicle to go bouncy, bouncy down the road.
If a spring is not broken, how the vehicle sits and rides will tell you if the springs needs replacing. A vehicle that bottoms out is one that is in need of new springs.
So it sounds as if you are need of a new set of front coil springs. – Mike
